welcome
I'm entering this blogging world with a lot of enthusiasm.. and a few goals and hopes in mind. I hope I can build a community of people who stop by to exchange helpful - and sometimes just interesting and fun - information related to good health. (And likely lots of other things, too!)
I want this to be an extension of my Web site, where you can find useful resources. And I also really hope this becomes a place for comfort and support for people who are living with cancer and trying to recover - and for their caregivers and other people supporting them.
I'd like you to get to know me, and I'd love to get to know you, too.
I've survived cancer twice and I've learned so much in the process. After exhausting nearly all medical options, I found my way back to health via a plant-based diet, also known as a macrobiotic diet, and I'll share how that happened and what it's meant to me. And what I've learned about the connections between a healthy diet and a good diet.
I think of this blog as a great journey, too. And I welcome your comments and suggestions and insights.

What a great blog! Love the pic from the book signing. Congratulations on all you have done. How about this quote? "Your life expands as your courage expands."
love, your niece Sarah

Oh,Sarah! Interesting that you sent this particular quote as I'm drawn to quotes on courage! I actually draw strength from reading them when I need courage. Seriously, when I took Joyce Tenneson's How To Make A Photography Book class, in Rockport, Maine, the night before I was thinking thoughts such as "what am I doing here?" and "I'm out of my league". I wanted to make a photography book of the images that Joyce had taken of me, but was embarassed and afraid of being judged. I brought this little book with me called, Women's Book of Wisdom, filled with quotes. I sat in my hotel room and read the ones on courage. It helped me so much by calming me. I drew strength from those women who knew about finding strength and wrote about their experiences. What I found for myself was that doing what I feared the most expanded my world a thousand fold. It helped me begin my next book, Breast Cancer Exposed, The Connection Between Food and Survival. And, I bought a camera. Now, I take pictures, too. It's opened up a whole new world to me and it's exciting. So, thank you for another pearl of wisdom. I will add it to my quotes on c-c-c-courage!
LOL,
Meg

Hi Meg! I clicked over here after you left a comment on my blog. Your site is beautiful! I'm totally on board with your food philosophy. I'm hoping eating vegan and avoiding processed foods will help me avoid the heart disease that runs in my family. I look forward to going back and reading some of your posts. Here's to Maine food bloggers!
